two member Indian team from Archaeological Survey of India comprising Er. R. S. Jamwal, Conservation Engineer and DR. Jitendra Das, Archaeologist, visited first the Vat Phou Temple site in September-October 2005, on request from Government of Lao PDR, to assess the condition and scope of work for Conservation and Restoration of Vat Phou Temple complex.
The team submitted the Report to Government of India an the basis of which a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic, for Conservation and Restoration of Vat Phou Temple complex, in May 2007.
